PROFILE - MEC MARTHA BARTLETT
MEC Martha Bartlett hails from the Northern Cape, where she underwent schooling at Koegasbrug Primary School and High School Carlton van Heerden in Upington. She now resides in Roodepan.
She obtained her Teachers Certificate and National Professional Diploma in Education from the University of the Western Cape.
MEC Martha Bartlett has a wealth of experience from student, youth, trade union movement, community structures, political formations and administrator for many years.
Occupying leadership positions in various community and political structures, saw her bringing change in her community.
Her rich experience and 27 years as a teacher, speaks volume and she is well respected in her community and in the Northern Cape Province.
Her vibrancy and activism was further enhanced through her involvement in the ANC. With numerous positions held within the ANC from a very early age, it came as no surprise when she was appointed as a Member of the Provincial Legislature following the General Election in May 2014. She is currently serving on the ANC Provincial Executive Committee and Provincial Working Committee. She also served on the ANC Women’s League Executive Committee.
In May 2014, she was appointed the MEC for the Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison.
In March 2016, she was appointed as the MEC for Education.
